It Took 13 Months

...but I've finally been given the last of the Primary Series asanas. Yes sir, as of today, the term "full practice" for me shall really mean a full practice of the entire Primary Series. Lo and behold, I think I can actually get it all done in 1.5-2 hours. Me with my slow practice, who knew?

Thanks so much to my wonderful teachers Jon and Connie for having so much patience with me. Now, I hope they'll continue to have such patience with me as we continue to work on perfecting each of the poses! :)

Another milestone today was that I somehow managed to come out of Supta Konasana without my heels thudding onto the wooden floor! I can't tell you how relieved I was when I heard myself land with a near-silent thump on my calf muscles...not to mention how much more comfortable it was to not have to deal with painful heels.

So a proud and painful day for me, as my back is now all sore. It's a good soreness though. (Read a previous post on my old blog about how you look for the soreness when it's absent)

Light practice for me tomorrow, then all systems go on Friday again. TTFN!

  1. Congratulations Aves! That feeling of accomplishment is truly wonderful, isn't it?

By the way, that girl in the pic looks eerily like you.

  2. Thanks! I know, before, I didn't even want to think about how long it would take me to finish primary. Especially when you hear about people doing it for years.

Nice work on the drop back and standing up preps! Oh wait, what's the catalyst for them (teachers)to start working you on that? Is that what comes next? Looked painful!

  3. Connie just mentioned some weeks back that she wanted to "move" me onto the 2nd series (I know, can't believe it myself) but she wants me to stand up from the back bend. The sensation was more "new" than painful for me. Was talking to Beng in the bathroom and we've agreed to be each other's backbend coaches since we're working on it together :-)

So is the girl in the pic on this post you? I haven't clicked on the link yet.

  4. No the girl in Purvottanasana ha, but the one in Setu...that you? Nice little shala you have there (if it's you).

  5. Nope, neither picture is me. The altar caught my eye too though. That's actually on my shopping list for Thailand. I'd like a couple of statues so I can finally create a nice shala altar for myself. Maybe a couple of mini-statues too for a portable altar?

Wow, second series! I'll watch so I know what to expect. I've never seen the 2nd series poses done before. Good luck! I'm sure you and Beng will be standing up from backbends before I get back!

  6. By "neither picture" I meant Setu and Supta Konasana, but I just remembered that the latter picture is a guy so malamang! Hehehe you like Ryan's cameo in my Purvottanasana pic? :-D

  7. Yes, you've seen 2nd series na...Allen does them when she practises in YMO. Also, the teachers in Alabang were doing intermediate too. I'm sure when you get back you'll be doing it too.

Was debating nga if it was Ryan's or Jon's bum. Now I know. Sana you photoshopped it out ;-)

  8. Hmmm...seems I'm even more oblivious to my surroundings than I thought. Oh well, good for my pratyahara practice, then! :)

Don't have Photoshop on my mini laptop and Ryan's been very busy lately. No worries, when he's got more time or when I have new pics, will update. :)
